Default Mixed Dye "Identity"

Now I realized that these were changed a while back, but I have been holding on to them for a while and realized, thanks to a fellow player, that it tells you the "Identity" of the mixed dye in the preview panel.

My first question is could two dyes of the same color be mixed to make 1 mixed dye but have it be considered a mix?
ie: Would it have been possible to mix a blue with a blue and come out with a mixed?

Answering the first one might answer the second one.

Now my second question is what, normally will a mixed dye identity tell you?
My 2 different dyes show up as "Identity, Color" Color happening to be a dye that is and was readily available before the dye change.

Its been a while but I seem to remember dye mixes with 2 same colour dyes but it was something like red red black I don't think there was a mix of just one shade.
Dye remover was also used in mixes.

The old dye mix threads are still available if they help

You can't actually mix dyes anymore - not in the sense of those old charts at least.

Maybe a picture to see provide a better sense of what I am talking about.
Note: The dye in the preview panel is a Mixed dye.

Question 1) So does this mean the dyes in question is a mix of yellow + yellow?

Question 2) Lets say the dye in question is yellow + yellow + silver to maybe make a Gold dye.
Would the "Identity" say yellow because it is mostly yellow?

Its all coming back now the good old days of trying to get realistic gold or the strange effect of dye on monk tattoo's and Chaos axes.

What they never explained about dye mixing is why if you mix 1 bottle of red with one bottle of Purple you didn't get 2 bottles of Pink.

I am guessing this as well because when I went to go compare the dye what I used in that screen to a regular yellow, it was the same color.
I have a green base that did the same thing with regular green now too.

Well thanks for all the input everyone. It has been very helpful and informative(unlike the wiki page about dyes )
